Good News!

This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24

We received lots of great news today! Today was Mama's appointment at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. The Doctors key word repeatedly spoken today was "Amazing!"

Answer to prayer and blessing #1: The doctors were amazed at the change in the size of Mama's tumor. The MRI showed the tumor has shrunk at least 1/2 the size from what it used to be. The difference really is a amazing!

#2: We didn't get the reading of the PET Scan, but the Doctors were able to look at the imaging and said the red "hot spots" which represent the living cancer cells were now black. Meaning the cancer cells are dead or sick. Thank you Jesus!

#3: Surgery is cancelled for tomorrow. The Doctors were pleased with the progress and felt the next step will be Radiation for 5 weeks. They were very cautious about transferring the Radiation treatment outside of Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, but to save Mama the long drive to Seattle 5 days a week, the head Radiation doctor checked and found a doctor in Lacey, WA that she had worked with before, felt comfortable and confident referring her to. The doctor had even graduated through their program. They will be setting up her care with them to begin later this week or next week. This is a huge blessing to only have to travel a half hour each way rather than the 1.75 to 2 hour each way to Seattle.

#4: After 5 weeks of Radiation, Mama will be given 4 weeks to rest and heal. The radiation typically causes the skin to feel sunburned. They expect with her skin being so sensitive, she may have some skin discomfort. After 4 weeks of healing, they will be scheduling surgery to remove that nasty old tumor.

No plan has been made so far post surgery. However, a couple rounds of chemo as an insurance may follow. Thank you to everyone for your continual prayers. We are seeing the rewards of answered prayers.

With love,
Carmen

Thank you Lord for your strength in the storm. When we have felt weary, You have held us up. Thank you for giving wisdom to the many doctors and caregivers. Thank you for orchestrating every detail of Mama's care. Thank you for the healing you have provided and continue to pour out. Today our hearts are full of joy and thankfulness. We love you Lord. All praise and glory to you. Amen

YEAH, THIS IS TRULY A DAY OF CELEBRATION!!!! I FOUND MYSELF TAKING A DEEP BREATH AND THiNKING HOW GOOD THAT FELT AND THAT MAYBE IT HAD BEEN A WHILE SINCE I HAD ACTUALLY BEEN ABLE TO DO THAT.
I KNOW THAT IT IS NOT OVER FOR YOU YET AND THAT THERE IS STILL A LOT TO DEAL WITH HOWEVER IT GETS EASIER THE BETTER THE NEWS, HUH??
WARREN, WARREN, WARREN, WHAT CAN I SAY TO YOU? YOU HAVE BEEN SUCH A GOD SEND DURING THIS TIME. YOU HAVE TAKEN SUCH GOOD CARE OF MY SIS, FIGURING OUT ALL HER MEDS, BEING THERE FOR HER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, SITTING THRU THE GRULING CONSULTATIONS WITH THE DRS,PRAYING FOR HER N0N-STOP, TAKING HER BACK AND FORTH TO SEATTLE AND SLEEING IN THE CHAIR BESIDE HER, DOUBLE CHECKING THE MEDICAL STAFF WHEN GIVING HER MEDS TO MAKE SURE THAT IT IS RIGHT, HOLDING HER HANDS AND COMFORTING HER ESPECIALLY IN TIMES OF BAD NEWS. AND I KNOW THAT THERE IS FAR MORE THAN THAT. IT COULD NOT BE AN EASY TASK AS I'M SURE THAT THERE WERE TIMES WHEN IT WAS HARD FOR YOU TO KEEP ON GIVING WHEN YOUR OWN CUP WAS SO EMPTY.BUT YOU DID IT WITH ALL THE LOVE IN THE WORLD AND IT SHOWS.
THANK YOU FOR LOVING MY SIS SO WELL:)
I LOVE YOU TOO, djkz

Oh, what great news!! Hallelujah!! Praise the Lord!! We know all of your family loves you, Deva (even your cousins!), but reading your children's comments and posts have been so touching and heartwarming. The Lord has indeed blessed you! As you begin radiation, we'll continue to pray for a complete recovery. With God as the Great Physician and the Head of your "medical team," it's all possible. We love you! Karl and Candi

My Dahlin Deva,
The Lord has played his mighty hand. Everyone is rejoycing in your progress, and see what God can do. I called Aunt Francis and she is sharing your victory with the folks in Clovis. She was so very happy and said that she had prayed for you when she first awoke yesterday morning. We all love that girl soooooooooo.....
You and she have so many characteristics alike.
We love you and will continue to pray for future events. What a family you have, Deva! They are so strong. Your son wrote the most moving comment the other day. He is a precious young man. So are your gracious and helpful daughters. What would you do without them? And Warren!!!!!
He is the best!!!!!!!
Warren, I am so proud of you.
Deva, you have hung in there through thick and thin. You have that winning quality about you. Rest up and perhaps the next step won't be as rough on you.
Love U Dahlin Deva,
Jerry and Va xoxoxoxo
