The biggest blessing so far this morning is the chest tube has been removed. Mama was able to get a boost on her epidural before the doctor started. Her doctor was extremely kind and gentle. He took every measure to make it go as easy as possible for her. The Lord's peace was present the whole time. He is always faithful.
She is pretty wiped out and is in bed sleeping now. They will be taking her down for x-rays this afternoon to confirm that her lung is fully inflating. Her epidural will soon be turned off and they will see if she can control pain by oral medication. If she is able to control pain orally, they will then remove her epidural and everything else. Once she has everything removed, they will make plans for her to be able to go home.
Mama is a little tiger. She has been working extra hard to do everything they ask of her and MORE! If they ask for a set of 10 breathing exercises, she gives 15-20. If they want her to take a short walk, she walks a full loop. She is completely amazing and courageous. We are so proud of her. I have no doubt that she will be heading home soon.
Daddy is doing well. He is her rock and my hero. His love for her is so transparent.
I will do my best to get another update this evening. Thank you for your continued prayers. Your emails, texts, blog messages, cards and messages have been a huge blessing to Mama and all of us. May the Lord bless each of you also.
With love,
Carmen and family

Mom,
Sometimes it just doesn't seem right, fair, or even believable the road that you are on. Sometimes it is hard to not be angry, frustrated, or feel abandon over the past couple years. Sometimes it was hard, really hard, for Joseph, Job, or David to keep their eyes fixed on the only prize that matters when the storm raged unceasingly all around them year in and year out.
They, like you, understood that the God of the universe allowed or willed things for one purpose and only one purpose, which is to bring GLORY to him.
I can't see the whole picture yet, and maybe never will on this side of the grave, but here is what I can see:
Your increasing of faith during times of decreasing strength brings GLORY to GOD.
Dad, doting over you even moreso than one would over their most prized possession, HONORS GOD's word.
Your relentless pursuit of the souls around you in a sometimes dark place (especially when you do not feel up to it) shows OBEDIENCE to GOD. Not to mention LOVING your neighbor as yourself (and in your case, often more than).
Your efforts to heal and get home, demonstrates your PERSERVERENCE which God wants for you.
When I cried at the hospital and you were drugged out of your mind, YOU got me a Kleenex, showing a Mother's COMPASSION and MERCY just as CHRIST does with us.
You concern yourself with whether others have had enough food, are comfortable, or are warm enough only hours after a major operation, being attentive to the CLOTHING, SHELTERING, RESTING, THIRSTING, FEEDING, of all of us (who are among the least of these) as CHRIST COMMANDED.
And on and on!
Thank you for continuing to teach your children even though we are grown. Thank you for demonstrating and living out what it means to live for CHRIST, and noone else. Thank you for showing us a better way to TRULY LIVE instead of just existing. Thank you for being my Mom and not just a mother.
I love you is not enough, but until a better way is found "I LOVE YOU"!
Troy
we are all on our knees for you dee!!!!
i love you sissie!
