A good day!

Well. I called Carmen and got a thorough update, but won't put every detail here, just as much as I can.

The staff was super, and got a cot and the pull out bed in Mom's room so Carmen did not have to sleep in the waiting room last night. She and Dad stayed righ there with her.
She did really well and slept in two hour blocks. They were keeping her iv drips going and so she was up throughout the night. Carmen said with each time out of bed, she could see Mom getting stronger. She got a blood transfusion yesterday, so I am sure that helped her as well.

Dr. Conrad was in this morning. He told her after the surgery on Thursday that the surgery was really a tough one and that "You owe me a coke!" He came in during rounds today and she handed him a coke. He thanked her and said he just may have it for breakfast. :)

She is doing really well and the iv pole is no longer connected to her. She is taking all meds by mouth now. Dr. Conrad wants to keep her until Wednesday or Thursday because there is such a big hole in her leg and it is still draining a lot. He wants to keep a close eye on her and monitor her for infection, so we would appreciate your prayers of protection in that area.

She is still having physical therapy a couple times a day in addition to getting up a lot, so she is moving around. This is night and day different from her biopsy, and eventual "wash out".
While she still has pain, burning behind her knee and nerve spasms that put her over the edge, she is balancing it with meds and ice. With the other two procedures, she was still in horrible pain just getting to the edge of the bed. We are so grateful to see this difference for her.

Troy, Maria, Sadie and Nate are up visiting today. I could hear the kiddos in the background and know that Mom is in her "happy place". There is nothing like her grandkids to give her joy.

Please continue to pray for her to feel well as she continues to meet people. She definately has a gift of encouragement to share and has been such an encouragement to people here in her love for the Lord.

(You are an encouragemnt to me as well Mom. What an example you are to your kids. We love you.)

So, 4 -5 more days, but she is doing well and gaining strength every day.

Love to you all and thank you again for your posts to her and calls. They make her day.

Love,
Kimberly and family

Mom,
It was wonderful to be able to spend the day with you and Dad even if it was in a hospital. It strangely has been a blessing for you to be in such a place. I know that it sounds wrong to say this, but hear me out. You know how much Sadie and Nate love their Grandma Deva. When we talk about you being in the hospital or going to see you at the hospital, they tend to have many questions which provides and opportunity to turn their eyes to God. No more precious a sound is there than two very little children asking Jesus to protect and heal their Grandma that has an "owee" on her leg. And no better a lesson for their parents to watch how they believe what they have requested will be done. They ask for it and that is that. It is settled. I don't know why we, as adults have to complicate the situation with doubts, theories, and opinions. It is not that I like you being there, but your grandchildren are learning from this and taking their place in your legacy of reliance upon Almighty God as the provider of everything that they need. As horrible as this may sound, I thank you for allowing them to see you and how you react in times of extreme need.
It was absolutely priceless to hear about you giving a spiritual tune-up to the Chaplain the other day. Thank goodness somebody is patrolling the sloppy theology of "whatever works for you" that is so rampant in this country today.
We love you so very much and cannot wait for you to get home. This road has been long and hard, I know, but as 1 John 2:8 says "For the darkness is fading, and the true light is already shining."
I will leave you with this one final thought. I have shared it with you in the past, but this has become my lifesong and I want you to realize that you have lived out this scripture that we read and hold close to us as a promise from Christ.
1 Peter 5:6-11
Humble yourselves, then, under God's mighty hand, so that He will lift you up in is own good time. Cast all of your cares upon Him, because He cares for you. Be alert and on watch! Your enemy, the Devil, roams around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Be firm in your faith and resist him, because you know that other believers in all the world are going through the same kind of sufferings. But after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who calls you to share His eternal glory in union with Christ, will Himself restore you and give you firmness, strength, and a sure foundation. To Him be the power forever! Amen

We love you MOM!!!(Dad too!)

Warren and Deva, you have certainly brought your children up well in the fear and admonition of the Lord and also to realize HIS great love for them and you. And what a blessing to have those grandchildren praying for you. Children are so precious and their faith so uncluttered with the whys and wherefores. Praise God for the report on how you are doing. It is an answer to prayer that just doesn't quit. God knows all and will put us where He can use us even if it is difficult. I often think of the diciples and the Apostle Paul and wonder if I could endure all they did for the Gospel of Jesus. But you know, I think He just gives the strength to go through each day as it comes to us. Bless you Deva again and again. I thank God for you!!!

Just a thought for the day!

Lam 3:20 I remember it all--oh, how well I remember-- the feeling of hitting the bottom.
Lam 3:21 But there's one other thing I remember, and remembering, I keep a grip on hope:
Lam 3:22 GOD's loyal love couldn't have run out, his merciful love couldn't have dried up.
Lam 3:23 They're created new every morning. How great your faithfulness!
Lam 3:24 I'm sticking with GOD (I say it over and over). He's all I've got left.
Lam 3:25 GOD proves to be good to the man who passionately waits, to the woman who diligently seeks.

Love you,
Troy
